Meat Machines

BIOLOGICAL BELIEF

We are machines. And we are not just biological machines - we are biological machines! This fact is both amazing and unsettling at the same time. Because, if we are nothing but chemicals and neurons, does that mean love is just a reactionary hormone release? Does this also mean we have no free will?

The answer to the above question on free will, may be answered by watching the following very interesting documentary by Bruce Lipton on the subject of Epigenetics. In this video, he discusses the properties of cellular organisms and how they react to external factors without altering the underlying DNA sequence.

In this video, Bruce explains how cells react to signals received from their environment which suggests that cellular activity is influenced through receptors located in the cell itself. By attracting binding proteins, the cell mechanisms are altered. If what Bruce is implying happens to these micro organisms, is also happening within the multi-millions of cells in our bodies, it means we are giving out and picking up signals not only from our subconscious neurological systems but that these cells can be influenced by our thoughts and intentions passed into the environments the cells live in. Changes in the organisms can be passed on through multiple generations without changing the DNA sequences. It transpires that we can influence our cells through positivity. He's written a book on the subject which I'm about to start.

Intent on Attraction
Turning on the body's receptors for attraction can be achieved through visualisation and influenced through our body's chemistry via our own positive thoughts. This means that we do in fact have free will! We have the capacity to change our physiological makeup. It's been shown through studies on recovering cancer patients, that those who remain positive, have a much higher chance of survival. So by focusing on our perception triggering actions on a conscious level, we can not only change the body's physiology, but also improve our body's 'collective' cellular intelligence. Yes, we have the the capacity to heal, but it's also possible that we can improve what we are born with. It's not just down to DNA.

Bruce Lipton suggests that a negative connotation connected with one's gene history - ie. a family history of cancer - can become a self-prophesying conclusion if we merely focus on our genes and DNA. By making consistent positive decisions, putting out into the universe our intentions and by visualising a goal we wish to achieve in life - we can possibly activate the receptors at a microscopic level, that send and receive the right signals for attracting what our thoughts desire.

Life Influence

POSITIVE CONNECTIONS
Attending the funeral of an old family friend this weekend plus seeing a little girl at the beginning of her journey, I'm again reminded of how great life can be, how short it is and how important it is being a positive influence in other people's lives if we are to get the best out of our time here.

Childhood Influences
John was an abused child. He was treated with cruelty by his parents and lacked the love shown from his family to equip him with a capacity for loving others. His childhood set him up on a path in life. He influenced others in many ways - both good and bad. Failed marriages, relationships and business ventures. But fortunately, he had good people in his life that gave him love and it was through them, that he learned to love. So, from a poor beginning, he eventually had much love in his life - particularly nearing the end. There was a lot of appreciation for John's life and the positive influences he had on others. This fact was evident at John's funeral as we listened to the speeches given to us by close family and friends.

We are all influenced through our life experiences. But we still have a choice in how we absorb these moments and use the influences to determine our future. Cruelty, hardship and poor parenting can create a cycle of behaviours that pass on down through the generations or we can make a decision to improve our lives through breaking the patterns created through poor influences.

Meeting my girlfriend's sister Vicky and 6 year old daughter Charlotte the day after the funeral, one can clearly see how a family can effect the life of a little girl at an impressionable time in her life. If there is struggle and poor peers around her, there will be higher chances of creating a troubled little girl. But if there are positive people around her and uplifting, happy, carefree moments experienced, then the life of this little girl can be a reflection of the good childhood she's had and not a dysfunctional one. She needn't battle her way through adolescence, make many mistakes in her early adult years only then to discover later in life, what has been holding her back all this time - as perhaps John did towards the later years of his life. She can be helped now and guided on to a happier path. And so it is up to me, as a positive connection - an influence in Charlotte's life, to ensure my moments with her and my connections to the family, are the ones to bring harmony and happiness. We are all connected in many intricate ways. It's up to us to be fully conscious of how the actions and non-actions will influence those around us.

We need to recognise when important moments of trust, respect, solidarity, reliability and courage - enriching actions and defining impressions - are bestowed upon those around us that can, in turn, go on themselves to share their positive influences to create a network of positive connections in the world.

Positivity Indicators

ALL FOR GOOD MEASURE

Everything we do and say will have an impact on those around us. We need to bare this fact in mind as we all have a moral duty to do our best passing on positive impressions to others. Not only will this benefit how we feel, spreading good will, can have a knock on effect to improve everyone's day who we come in contact with.

Positivity Footprint
Just as we have measures for our carbon output, we should all have a daily check to see if our output on the world about us is making a positive footprint.

Children are very impressionable and will pick up on both a positive or negative, so it pays to make sure we give out the best we can when around youngsters to ensure they learn how to treat others. But it's not only kids, family and loved ones who should benefit, we should also try to put out more good vibes in the workplace and even inspire complete strangers throughout our daily lives too.

At the end of the day, it will all be to our greater benefit if we can put out more positive intentions. And if we aim to retain our positive levels in the 60%+ range, we'll see a marked improvement in our overall happiness over time. So, before sleeping each night, take a moment to reflect on the day and note down a tally of any positives deeds, interactions and actions made throughout the course of the day. See how they measure up against any negative aspects. Feel the satisfaction of knowing your actions are impacting others for the greater good, witness how easy sleep comes and then rise early the next day - feeling fresh and light in the soul, ready for another day full of positivity.
